ABOUT DDF

Drama, Debate and Forensics (DDF) is a statewide extracurricular activity that promotes interscholastic debate, oratory, public speaking, and interpretation of literature by encouraging a spirit of fellowship and healthy competition among high school students. DDF builds confidence,  public speaking and leadership skills that help students succeed in school and rise as leaders in their community.

ABOUT HOMER DDF

Our Mission

To help young adults achieve personal growth and attain self-confidence in a creative environment which encourages intellectual curiosity, clear communication of ideas, artistic expression and high ethical standards.

Our Objective

A confidant, open-minded young adult with a strong ethical base; an appreciation of the arts; and the ability to communicate effectively.

Our Method

Our program is student driven and directed. Team members select and rehearse dramatic pieces; research, brainstorm and write debate cases; and draft their own speeches. In addition to competing interscholastically, students perform unannounced Random Acts of DDF at local venues; participate in locally sponsored poetry and drama slams and readings; and actively engage in community conversations and debates.

Homer DDF is recognized by the Alaska Schools and Activities Association, and a member of the National Forensics League (NFL).
